Brett Taylor is a graduate of the University of Alabama and his love for college basketball runs deep. His father Jimmy, an honorary member of the Birmingham Tip-Off Club, was the head coach at Ensley High School and the University of South Alabama before entering private business. Brett’s brother Jimmy, Jr. is a past president of the Tip-Off Club.
Brett wanted to pursue basketball coaching as a profession and was offered a full scholarship to Auburn University from Sonny Smith to be a manager for the men’s basketball team in 1987. Brett declined but was given the opportunity, and he took it this time, to be a Graduate Assistant for Sonny while he was at Virginia Commonwealth University during the 1991-1992 season.
Brett enjoys attending Alabama basketball games as a season ticket holder. He is also an avid musician and likes to play golf from time-to-time. Brett donates a considerable portion of his time to raising money for the Crippled Children’s Foundation as well as the American Cancer Society.
Brett is currently a real estate agent at RE/MAX Southern Homes in Vestavia and is married to the former Kristie Tortomasi of Vestavia. They have 4 wonderful children, Ford, Sarah Camille, Coleman and Maci ranging in ages from 4 to 12.
